My best friend Dexter has lots of allergies and a bad skin condition. He’s a very sensitive dog.
Feeding him Prodog Raw was life changing for him and me because I was at a loss as to what to try feeding him on… I was out of options!
Dexter used to frantically itch and chew his underneath red raw, he had bald patches, he was constantly malting and was a very uncomfortable, unhappy dog. Everything seemed like a struggle with him because he was always very sore. He was hard work and after being very sceptical I finally decided to seek help from Prodog’s team. I had nothing to lose by trying a raw diet… things couldn’t get any worse with his skin. It was bleeding a lot, everything the vet had recommended failed and I was constantly in tears because I wanted to help my dog so badly.
I remember being worried about feeding him raw food; freezing it, remembering to defrost it, ordering it on time, wondered whether he would eat it, I had loads of worries! For no reason at all!!!
With the help of the great ProDog Raw team I switched him straight onto the exotics range, I worked out how many grams he needed a day with the online calculator and split that into 2 meals. It’s easy to defrost the tubs in the fridge and he ate it all up straight away, every meal completely gone and his bowl licked clean. Within less than a week everything changed, he stopped attacking himself, his behaviour improved, his eyes were brighter and within 6 weeks all his skin cleared up.
I started with the exotics range and also gave him the Prodog supplement Protect.
Dexter has arthritis, he was 7 years old when I had him. I can recall the vet telling me to keep his weight down. I found this easy on a raw diet and the vet was very impressed at our next appointment because he looked really fit and healthy and hadn’t been limping at all.
I give him the Prodog supplement Flex 4 times a week. I also feed him 2 tins of sardines a week (I wash off most of the tomato sauce) with his raw food and a raw egg with the shell once a week cracked over his dinner.
I have recently started to give him lamb and duck and have had no skin flare ups.
I’m living on a tight budget and find Prodog affordable and great value for money. I believe the putting him onto Prodog Raw and feeding him supplements has saved me a fortune in vets bills and will prolong his life.
Dexters recent worm count was excellent… no worms could be seen (for the 4th time in 2 years). I don’t give him chemicals and don’t give him worm or flea treatments. I found a link directly to a lab through the Prodog website (one of Alison’s brilliant articles) and have a worm count done twice a year. I would highly recommend reading all the free articles on the website, I’ve learned so much and all the information is completely free!
I will order the supplement Repel in March and add it to his food daily through until September. I have personally found this to be the best preventative measure for fleas for Dexter so he doesn’t have to have nasty chemicals that would not be good for his sensitivities. He is a very sensitive dog and now I’ve found what works for him I will always feed Prodog raw, only give him prodog raw treats and will continue with the supplements.
So I think what I’m trying to say is a huge thank you from me and Dexter, I have a happy, healthy, lean 10 year old dog who loves his raw diet… he can’t wait for his breakfast after our morning walk and loves his dinner! I cannot recommend ProDog Raw enough… life changing!
