I had about 300,000 Kyat (a modest amount) and needed to convert it before my flight. ProFX was the only booth that listed it.The hostility began immediately. The agent put on gloves before touching my bills, then called over a colleague to scrutinize every single note under a UV light, whispering in Thai. They treated my legally obtained currency like it was counterfeit or contaminated. This degrading "inspection" took 25 minutes, holding up the line and causing me immense anxiety.After this humiliating ordeal, they presented their offer: 850 Thai Baht. This is an outright robbery. 300,000 MMK is roughly $85 USD. Even at a poor standard forex rate, that should yield around 2,800+ Baht. They offered less than one-third of the value! When I exclaimed, "That can't be right!" the agent shrugged and said, "No demand. High risk. Take or leave." They knew I was trapped at the airport.I was forced to accept out of sheer powerlessness. They exploited my location, my limited currency, and their position as the only vendor. The combination of demeaning treatment and blatant, extortionate financial exploitation deserves zero stars. ProFX at DMK is not a currency exchange; it's a legalized theft operation for holders of exotic currencies. You are better off keeping the notes as a bitter souvenir than subjecting yourself to this.
