I usually shop at a local grocery store, even though I know the prices can be slightly higher, due to their excellent customer service. However, last week, when I went in to order a fruit tray, I was informed that I needed to place the order online. I complied and made the order, specifying in the 'Special Instructions' that I only wanted strawberries, blueberries, pineapples, and apples, as requested by the person receiving the tray. Although the photo displayed different fruits, I assumed it was for promotional purposes. My husband picked up the tray, but it included melon and other fruits not mentioned in my instructions. The special instructions were still visible on my receipt. When I returned to the store the next morning to speak with the manager, I waited for 10 minutes only to be told to go to the Deli. After another 6 minutes of waiting there, the deli staff informed me that they couldn't make changes due to 'store policy.' I questioned why no one contacted me about this policy, but received no answer. If the manager was aware of the policy, why send me to the Deli? I ended up going back to customer service to pay again for the correct fruit. The representative was surprised that the issue wasn't resolved. Overall, shopping that day was far from enjoyable.
