Fountains West in Ocoee, Florida.
5 stars for employee awesomeness (almost everyone). The awesome are very friendly and helpful.
But... I'm rating food freshness, expiration date of stock on the shelves (do they not know how to rotate old to the front, new to the back when restocking shelves?). It's basic common sense to rotate stock, but laziness and poor training says just put the new stuff up front?? Is that the new norm? Also, do they not know that fresh produce in a container (like cherry tomatoes) ripen faster in that container and if you don't check or rotate stock, you're selling moldy produce? And why can't I get YumYum sauce with my sushi at Fountains West? The Sushi chef always says they have none. Why sell sushi without the special sauces?
I'd like to do all my shopping at Fountains West, it's close to home, I like the employees. And I don't have a complex grocery list. But, I generally end up at a different store a few miles away because I can't count on Fountains West to have what I need all at once like the other Publix stores manage to achieve...and the other stores don't sell rotten produce.
Whoever is responsible for ordering and checking dates on meats and produce misses the boat by a very long mile. And teach those that stock the expensive produce how remove rotten products. The other day, I gave a stock person 9 packages of cherry tomatoes that were full of mold and there were more on display. They didn't even say sorry or appear surprised. I also have given the meat counter an entire rack of expired lunchmeat as well.
Note, I am NOT talking about independent vendors (bread, chips, soda, and others that stock those areas), they’re fabulous. Always well stocked and fresh.
My generous one star rating is ONLY for areas maintained by Publix and the lack of care for the store by management.
Why do I keep going to Fountains West expecting different results?… Maybe I'm not the brightest candle on the cake… But I’m hopeful?… Yes, I am... It’s closer? Yes... But, is it worth it when you have to go to a 2nd store? …
Get it together Fountains West! I miss the days when you were a one stop shop. And FYI, my grocery list hasn't changed much in the last 18 years, you used to have it all, and fresh, unexpired, non-moldy foods.
Each week prices are higher and higher, this company is way too greedy and I am definitely avoiding stores in Jacksonville. 13 oz Publix brand prepackaged and sliced turkey almost 14 dollars 😱😱😱 Aldis price for 14 oz organic brand name sliced turkey under 7 bucks ….. other prices are insane as well, I don’t know what this company trying to do but ripping peoples wallet it’s not good. Trader Joe, Aldis, some other small grocery stores as well as Walmart and WInn DIxie will get my money in future. Publix …. Hell no, not a dime !!!!!
I usually shop at a local grocery store, even though I know the prices can be slightly higher, due to their excellent customer service. However, last week, when I went in to order a fruit tray, I was informed that I needed to place the order online. I complied and made the order, specifying in the 'Special Instructions' that I only wanted strawberries, blueberries, pineapples, and apples, as requested by the person receiving the tray. Although the photo displayed different fruits, I assumed it was for promotional purposes. My husband picked up the tray, but it included melon and other fruits not mentioned in my instructions. The special instructions were still visible on my receipt. When I returned to the store the next morning to speak with the manager, I waited for 10 minutes only to be told to go to the Deli. After another 6 minutes of waiting there, the deli staff informed me that they couldn't make changes due to 'store policy.' I questioned why no one contacted me about this policy, but received no answer. If the manager was aware of the policy, why send me to the Deli? I ended up going back to customer service to pay again for the correct fruit. The representative was surprised that the issue wasn't resolved. Overall, shopping that day was far from enjoyable.
I've been a customer for quite a while. Most of my purchases come from a different retailer where I save significantly. However, the prices at this store have become excessive. I can't justify those costs anymore. It's time to explore other options.
The quality of the produce is extremely poor, with some items being rotten. It's hard to believe they attempt to sell such spoiled goods. Furthermore, every time I shop there, I notice that the prices of items I usually purchase increase by 20 to 30%. For instance, last week a gallon of purified water was $1.33, and now it’s $1.59. Just a year ago, it was only 99 cents, and not too long ago, it was 67 cents. This is just one small example, and many other items have doubled in price since last year. I refuse to buy these overpriced goods. The company seems to be taking advantage of customers, and I'm trying to limit my visits as much as possible. Their greed is appalling.
I visited a local store to purchase some meats using my spendable card, but they insisted on cash payment, claiming the card is only for food. I've stopped shopping there and now go to a different store where I can use my card without issues. I believe what they’re doing is wrong, and I plan to report this to the appropriate authorities.
I had a deeply troubling experience at the pharmacy. I depend on a vital heart medication that is crucial for preventing a potential heart attack, yet my urgent needs were not recognized or addressed. I already had a valid prescription, and all that was required was a straightforward transfer from another pharmacy. While this was being arranged, I requested at least a one-day supply to ensure my safety but was refused. This lack of compassion and attentiveness in such a critical situation is unacceptable, and I hope the pharmacy takes this feedback seriously to ensure that patients in urgent need receive the care and prompt support they require.

I used to shop here regularly, but I've recently noticed that prices have skyrocketed. It's frustrating because the company has profited from loyal customers for years. Now, I only visit for small items or specific deals, while I do most of my shopping at more affordable stores. It's disheartening to see such changes, and I feel like I've lost a store I once valued for over 25 years.
I used to enjoy shopping here when I traveled south, but after two months in Florida, I was let down by the high prices. For example, a half-gallon of milk costs over $3 here, while it's only $1.69 at a competing store. I don’t mind paying a little extra to avoid certain retailers, but more than double for some items is simply not fair.
