Unfortunately, my experience with Purplebricks (and my local agent Sara) was extremely disappointing.
The property was never properly valued in person. The “valuation” was done remotely via camera/video, which led to an artificially inflated asking price. I was told the house could realistically sell for that figure, which later proved to be completely misleading.
After that, I was pushed into a £1,000 upfront package. Yes, they came to take photos and create a 3D tour, but once the money was paid, the service essentially stopped.
Communication was extremely poor:
I waited almost three weeks just to get a simple amendment to the property description.
When I later asked for the 3D tour to be sent to my email (as I was considering switching agents), I was completely ignored.
Calls and messages went unanswered. There was no follow-up, no advice, no proactive sales effort.
Four months later, the house is still not sold.
It feels very clear that the business model is focused on collecting the upfront fee, not actually selling the property. Once they get the £1,000, the client no longer seems to matter.
My advice:
If you have a large, high-quality or premium home, do not use Purplebricks. It is simply a waste of money. You are far better off going to a traditional estate agent, paying £2,000–£2,500, and having someone who is genuinely motivated to sell your property.
This was a very frustrating and costly lesson.
