Review Time
Excellent valuation appointment today, Sam went through everything thoroughly with us and took time to explain the whole process, highly recommend to anyone looking to sell their property.
Not the worst experience overall but that had little to do with the estate agent.
Minimal effort, work or enthusiasm from their side other than to collect on their excessive £96 AML-check charge.
Despite claiming that all discussion would be via their online portal without contact details, they begun acting as a middle-man service to forward emails between me and the seller, although most of my emails went unforwarded and often ignored.
TLDR No communication or work done from the estate agent unless it is for them to ask for money.
Jenny made the experience great by being professional, friendly, and clear throughout the house valuation. She arrived on time, explained the process well, and answered my questions honestly. The company is doing well with punctual service, clear communication, and a smooth, efficient process.
Complete con. They overvalue the property, tell you to take the payment up front option then do nothing other than list it. Impossible to communicate with and having been paid £1000 up front there is no incentive to do anything.
Got rid of them. The experience cost me around £1000.
Beware
Absolutely outstanding service from Rebecca Wheatcroft at Purplebricks. From start to finish, Rebecca was professional, proactive, and genuinely cared about getting the best possible outcome. Her communication was clear and consistent, she was always available to answer questions, and nothing ever felt like too much trouble. She made the whole process smooth and stress-free, keeping everything on track and explaining each step with confidence and honesty. A real credit to Purplebricks — I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Rebecca to anyone looking to sell or buy a property. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Unfortunately, my experience with Purplebricks (and my local agent Sara) was extremely disappointing.
The property was never properly valued in person. The “valuation” was done remotely via camera/video, which led to an artificially inflated asking price. I was told the house could realistically sell for that figure, which later proved to be completely misleading.
After that, I was pushed into a £1,000 upfront package. Yes, they came to take photos and create a 3D tour, but once the money was paid, the service essentially stopped.
Communication was extremely poor:
I waited almost three weeks just to get a simple amendment to the property description.
When I later asked for the 3D tour to be sent to my email (as I was considering switching agents), I was completely ignored.
Calls and messages went unanswered. There was no follow-up, no advice, no proactive sales effort.
Four months later, the house is still not sold.
It feels very clear that the business model is focused on collecting the upfront fee, not actually selling the property. Once they get the £1,000, the client no longer seems to matter.
My advice:
If you have a large, high-quality or premium home, do not use Purplebricks. It is simply a waste of money. You are far better off going to a traditional estate agent, paying £2,000–£2,500, and having someone who is genuinely motivated to sell your property.
This was a very frustrating and costly lesson.
Thank goodness - we’ve just reached the end of a TWO YEAR NIGHTMARE with Purplebricks. The story is far too long to type so here are the bullet points:
- Yes, without question, Purplebricks are the WORST ESTATE AGENT IN THE UK.
- yes, Purplebricks LOST THE SALE of our house through being a complete shambles.
- yes, Purplebricks tried to negotiate £100K over the asking price of our house which LOST A PROSPECTIVE BUYER. Afterwards I was told by Purplebricks “people make mistakes” (they’d already unfortunately taken my fee by this point of no return)
- You might think you’re saving money in the long run but this is a FALSE ECONOMY.
- Everything from start to finish is appalling, especially ALL OF THEIR COMMUNICATION (the most important part).
- yes, you are mainly dealing with kids who can’t spell (including the worst communication with prospective buyers), forget to do things regularly and to be quite honest… DON’T CARE
- Yes, The Property Ombudsman agreed with us and ordered Purplebricks to pay us decent COMPENSATION (6 times what Purplebricks offered us, but it took us 2 years of fighting to get it).
- Yes, The Property Ombudsman agreed with us by upholding our formal complaint which states that Purplebricks are A LOAD OF ABSOLUTE RUBBISH.
- DON’T make the same mistake we did.
- Go with A LOCAL ESTATE AGENT.
I had an excellent experience with Purplebricks from start to finish. The whole process felt smooth, transparent and far less stressful than I expected. Communication was consistent and clear, and I always felt informed about what was happening at each stage. The online platform made everything incredibly convenient — from booking viewings to tracking progress — and it gave me real confidence that things were moving forward.
The team were professional, friendly, and genuinely committed to helping me achieve the best outcome. Their local knowledge and advice were spot on, and I never felt pressured or rushed. It was refreshing to work with an estate agent who combines modern technology with real human support.
I recently had a valuation visit for my property in Chorlton, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the service provided. The agent arrived on time, was extremely professional, and conducted a thorough inspection of the house, taking time to note all the key features.
They were knowledgeable about the local market, friendly, and took the time to answer all my questions clearly and patiently. The whole process felt straightforward, reassuring, and genuinely helpful. I highly recommend Purplebricks estate agent to anyone in the area looking for expert advice – top-notch service from start to finish
I used George Andrews for a couple of property valuations a while back and couldn’t fault the service.
Really nice guy, very approachable, and he took the time to explain everything clearly without any pressure.
The valuations were thorough and straightforward, and the whole process was smooth from start to finish.
If I were to sell a property in the future, I’d definitely use George again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to others.
