We played with 2 people in about an hour. Nice variety of puzzles that were doable - a few challenging ones we didn't get right on our first try, but not so convoluted as to be frustrating. Having two sets of each puzzle was helpful - especially for two-sided puzzles, and a game-saver for us since our dog chewed a corner of the envelope and contents 😒.
Also appreciated the eco-friendly recycleable materials and compact nature of everything in an envelope.
The only element missing was more of a plot line and a bit of character development, perhaps with motives.
Received the secret set as a gift, and I usually enjoy puzzles and escape room challenges. While the puzzles were generally good, they were overwhelmingly filled with AI-generated art. It diminishes the experience knowing they didn't invest in real artists.
Received the secret set for Christmas and, as someone who enjoys puzzles and escape room activities, I found the puzzles to be generally good. However, the overwhelming presence of AI-generated art really detracted from the experience. It feels disappointing that they chose not to invest in real artists.
Purchased and attempted Inheritance, but it was not enjoyable. It was excessively challenging, with vague answers that led to disengagement, and we still couldn't solve the stained glass window puzzle. I wouldn't recommend spending your money on this.
We played this as a post-holiday game with family, and it was a blast! It was five adults; I think it might be too challenging for kids, but it was perfect for us—some parts were easier, and one section required the very useful clues! We loved the story and found ourselves cheering for the characters, but the real highlight was the puzzle quality—so many creative ways to uncover sequences of numbers and letters! We spent the first part of the evening on it and wrapped it up the next morning. I will definitely recommend it and am already planning to get another for our next family gathering.
I played The Secret Set with my family, and it was an enjoyable experience and good value. I would suggest adding more props/puzzles for larger groups and organizing the puzzles in order (e.g., p1, p2, etc.) to ensure we do them correctly.
We tried the festive confession mystery at home after enjoying a murder mystery from another service. This one felt oddly complicated in unexpected ways; we managed about half without clues. However, the hints seemed to undo our progress, which made it frustrating, and we didn't finish because it stopped being fun. We're relatively educated and have enjoyed others, but this was probably better suited for a larger group, as it was just the two of us.
