One star because I couldn't give less.
I have never experienced such a complete lack of professionalism and basic customer care as I did with Qatar Airways on my recent trip from Tenerife to Johannesburg via Madrid and Doha. My checked‑in luggage never moved from one airport to the next, yet the airline never sent a single notification – I only discovered the problem because I had a GPS tracker on the suitcase. I was forced to call Qatar Airways myself, negotiate with Iberia staff in Madrid, send a family member to Tenerife to hand the bag over to ground‑handling, make another call when the bag finally reached Madrid (and was again stuck), and then spend hours messaging Qatar staff and speaking with Johannesburg airport personnel just to get the bag onto the final flight (because, again, it got stuck in Doha).
All of this was done without any proactive assistance, updates or apologies from the carrier. The experience was incredibly stressful, cost me valuable work time, and required me to arrange my own “logistics” at every stop. The same pattern of incompetence is bound to repeat on the return leg, meaning any future travel with Qatar Airways would inevitably involve the same chaos and frustration.
In short, the airline’s service is utterly unreliable, its communication is non‑existent, and its handling of baggage is dangerously inefficient. I would strongly advise anyone reading this to avoid Qatar Airways altogether – there are far better options that respect passengers’ time, luggage and peace of mind.
