We fully understand that cancellations can happen, especially given the current situation. That’s not the issue. The issue is how Qatar Airways handles its customers when things go wrong.
Our flight from Bangkok to Oslo (scheduled early April) was cancelled. Instead of being rerouted home, we were first offered a partial solution to Copenhagen (which is not our end destination) —leaving us to figure out and pay for the rest ourselves. Later, we were told the earliest available flight to Oslo was June 16 and that Copenhagen was no longer avaliable- this was simply not a realistic option.
After more several attempts and hours on the phone, the only solution we were given was a refund. No rerouting, no partner airlines, no real attempt to get us to our final destination, despite our rights.
Even more concerning, there was no offer of hotel, food, or basic care, despite us being stranded abroad.
We showed full understanding for the situation and were flexible with the dates within reasonable time due to work commitments—but Qatar showed very little responsibility, flexibility or understanding in return. Instead of helping, we were met with resistance, long waiting hours and ultimately no solution.
This is where an airline proves its quality. Unfortunately, this experience showed the exact opposite. If possible we would give zero stars or less. Never booking with this airline again and advise to stay away.
