I recently purchased a jacket in a striking blue color for £144, and at first, I was quite pleased with its appearance. However, after a 30-minute walk in moderate rain, I was disappointed. Upon removing the jacket, I found that water had soaked through and dampened the back of my neck and the hood area. Additionally, the hood felt a bit oversized for an XL, and it would blow down in strong winds when I wore a hat underneath. I also wished the chin area offered more coverage. The elasticated cuffs seemed more decorative than functional, making little difference. I can't help but compare this jacket to another one I have that cost only £38. The other jacket's hood fits tighter and stays in place, plus it has rubber-coated zip pulls, while this one just has a piece of string. The other jacket also provides better face coverage in windy conditions and keeps me warm with a jumper underneath. In conclusion, this jacket is over three times the price of the other, yet I believe the latter performs better in cold, wet conditions. While this one has deeper pockets and an adjustable hem, I found myself wishing I had the other jacket for its better fit and functionality. Unfortunately, it feels like you’re just paying for the brand name with this one.
