It took me 10 years to get to the point where I trusted that pet insurance was a legitimate product. At first it seemed like a gimmick. Then, a luxury. I had just adopted 2 new dogs, so I checked it out. I am now insured. Silver plan. Easy sign-up--my policy was emailed to me the moment I signed up. All the major medical concerns I have (or have had) with my dogs are covered by the policy (including snake bites--I know from experience how expensive they are!). And FWIW, I noted during my research that they are underwritten by Allianz, a massive global underwriting company. Hoping I never need to use it, but glad I've got it.
