Christmas gift disappointment

I ordered an electric scooter for my son’s Christmas present, and he was overjoyed when he opened it. Unfortunately, it didn’t work, and after contacting the manufacturer, I was informed that the scooter was two years old and the battery needed replacement. My son was devastated on Christmas day, and it broke my heart to see his disappointment. I wasn't aware that these scooters had a limited lifespan. It should be the company's responsibility to communicate with retailers about their products. I will be taking this further, as this experience ruined my son's Christmas.
