I rented a vehicle at Barcelona Airport (Contract V/88-2026-8351, plate 8545NBW) and am currently being charged €605.74 for damage on the rear right door that was already documented in the rental contract at the time of pick-up.
At the time of return, I filmed a full walkthrough of the vehicle, spending significant time on the area in question. I showed this video to the employee who collected the keys. Despite this, the company refused to accept my evidence and retained €605.74 from my deposit.
I have provided the original video with timestamps (damage clearly visible around 0:43 and between 0:47–0:53), slow-motion clips, and screenshots. All of this has been ignored.
I am now formally disputing the charge and have initiated chargeback proceedings through my bank, as well as a claim with my travel insurance provider.
I would strongly advise anyone renting here to film every inch of the vehicle in broad daylight before and after rental, and to never trust that pre-existing damage noted in the contract will be honoured.
