General Impressions
Upon arrival at El Beso Adults at Ocean El Faro, we were excited to experience a luxurious 5-star resort. However, our entire week there was disappointing, and it would be generous to rate it even as a 2-star establishment.
Check-In Experience
The check-in process was frustrating. Despite being third in line, we observed the bellboy prioritizing others who appeared to be bribing him. After one and a half hours of waiting and numerous complaints, we finally checked in, but our concerns were never addressed after lodging a formal complaint.
Dining and Food Quality
The buffet breakfast set the tone for the disappointing culinary experience. My wife suffered from severe food poisoning after just one meal, which lasted for 12 hours and caused her significant distress. The only distinctive food she had was fruit, an experience echoed by our friend's wife who faced the same illness. Outside of the Japanese restaurant, the overall food quality was subpar, with most dishes deemed inedible.
Beach and Amenities
While the resort boasts a striking turquoise beach, the experience was marred by a rocky and shale-filled seabed, making it uncomfortable to enjoy. We also decided to indulge in the spa, but the amenities were underwhelming: the therapeutic pool was cold, the steam room lacked steam, and the sauna was chilly.

Internet Connectivity Issues
One of the most significant challenges was the internet access. Throughout my seven-day stay, the internet would frequently drop every few minutes while using my PC. Despite bringing this to the attention of guest services, the response was unsatisfactory: I was repeatedly told, "we know and are working on it." Unfortunately, the issue persisted, making it extremely difficult to stay connected for both personal and business needs.
Accommodation Experience
During my first three days, the air conditioning in my room was not functioning properly. The AC was stuck on full blast, making the room extremely cold—so much so that we had to wear sweaters just to be comfortable. Despite reaching out to guest services four times, I was repeatedly assured that someone would come to fix the issue, but no one arrived until the fourth day of my stay.
The lack of timely intervention for both the AC and internet connectivity detracted substantially from my overall experience.
Service Quality
Service at the resort left much to be desired. Interactions with staff were often unpleasant—the servers seemed overwhelmed and rude, lacking basic hospitality. Communication was further complicated by a language barrier, as many staff members did not understand English.
Conclusion
It’s perplexing why Air Canada would recommend this resort, given our experience. The combination of poor dining, inadequate service, and overall dissatisfaction makes it challenging to recommend El Beso Adults at Ocean El Faro to others. If you're seeking a quality resort experience, I would suggest exploring other options.
