It’s rare to come across such a witty and insightful narrative written by a chef speaking from lived experience. This book, by someone who can laugh at both himself and life while expressing hard truths with a refined subtlety, compellingly questions the notions of “rich” and “poor” from within the world of gastronomy. With a truly immersive and engaging style, it draws you step by step into the realities of the kitchen. Highly recommended.Chef Aydin Demir

Rice Chef Poor Chef is an inspiring book that the story of persons journeys from working as a Pastry

Rice Chef Poor Chef is an interesting and inspiring book that shares lessons about success, mindset, and personal growth. I personally know him, which makes the story even more meaningful and real to me. I like how the author shares his real experiences, struggles, and lessons learned along the way. It shows that hard work, determination, and the right mindset can help someone improve their life. The book is easy to understand and gives motivation to improve ourselves, especially for people who want to chase their dreams. Overall, it is a inspiring and encouraging book. Salute

Finally found something that actually…

Finally found something that actually speaks to my realityI’m an entrepreneur sicne about 25 years now, and I’ve picked up a few business and finance books over the years trying to figure out how to actually build some wealth. Honestly, most of them just didn’t connect with me they were written for people with 9-to-5 jobs or corporate careers, not for someone who works nights, weekends, and holidays. This book is different. It’s like the author actually gets what our lives are like. The financial struggles, the long hours, the passion that keeps us in this industry even when the money isn’t great it’s all there. I found myself nodding along to almost every page because it resonated with my own experience completely.I’m really lucky I came across this book. I’ve honestly never seen anything like it before something specifically designed for chefs and how we actually work and think. It’s not dumbed down, and it’s not generic advice repackaged. It’s real.I will say this book isn’t for everyone. If you’re happy with where you are and don’t really want to change anything, you probably won’t get much from it. But if you have a growth mindset and you’re ready to do something different to create a better situation for yourself, this is worth reading.Even though it’s written for chefs, I think a lot of the concepts could apply to other people in demanding industries too. The principles are solid.Glad I found this one.

The Book Every Chef Should Read at Least Once

Just finished reading Rich Chef Poor Chef by Yusuf Yaran, and honestly… this is one book you should not miss if you’re serious about growing your career in hospitality. You can really feel it’s written by someone with many years in hospitality. It’s not textbook knowledge, but full of real-life stories, the kind you only understand after long shifts, tough days, and dealing with real guests. What makes this book special is how honest and relatable it is. Every page feels practical and real.Especially for chefs who feel stuck, lost, or struggling, this book can open your eyes, reset your mindset, and give you a new sense of direction.Definitely worth a read.

stepping onto a stage where every day brings a new story, a new face, and a new chance to make someone feel valued. It is not always easy—long hours, demanding guests, and moments of pressure will test your patience. But within those challenges lies something truly special: the power to create unforgettable experiences.
Every smile you give, every detail you notice, and every effort you make becomes part of someone else’s memory. A tired traveler finds comfort because of your kindness. A family celebrates a meaningful moment because of your service. These are not small things—they are the heart of hospitality.
In the beginning, you may feel unsure or overwhelmed. That is normal. Growth in this industry comes from experience, from learning to stay calm under pressure, and from choosing to care even when it is difficult. The strongest professionals are not the ones who never struggle, but the ones who keep showing up with dedication and pride.
Remember, hospitality is not just a job—it is a journey of character. It teaches patience, humility, teamwork, and resilience. If you stay committed and keep your passion alive, you will not only build a career, but also a reputation that people trust and remember.
So walk forward with confidence. Be proud of every small improvement. Treat every guest as important. And never forget—your attitude and heart are what truly define your success in hospitality.
Your journey starts now, and it has the potential to be extraordinary.

Worth reading even if you've never picked up a spatula

I'm a marketer, not a chef, so I wasn't expecting to get this much out of the book. But a lot of what he writes about applies way beyond the kitchen. The learning section was probably my favourite part. The stuff on spaced repetition and active reading isn't new, but the way he frames it around a chef's life makes it click differently. And the financial literacy chapters are honestly overdue — I don't think any industry does a good job of teaching this, not just hospitality.Yusuf has had a serious career — decades across different countries and regions — and the book feels like it. It's not theory. Recommended, chef or not.
