Buying the RingConn 2 was one of the most frustrating and pointless tech purchases I have made in years.
I bought this ring about a year ago and have been wearing it daily ever since. At first, everything seemed fine. But looking back, the only reason it felt fine was because I had nothing to compare it to. I assumed that opening the app manually to check updates was just how these devices worked.
Then my partner bought a smart ring from a different brand.
She uses the same Android phone model and the same Android version as I do. Yet her ring behaves completely differently. She receives automatic notifications about sleep insights, elevated heart rate, stress levels, reminders to move, and other health alerts. Everything arrives instantly as notifications, exactly as you would expect from a health tracking device.
With RingConn, I get nothing.
No alerts. No reminders. No health warnings. No sleep notifications. Nothing at all.
If I want to see any data, I must manually open the app every single time. Even the home screen widget is essentially useless. It does not update automatically and often shows no real data until I open the app manually. At that point the app refreshes and finally displays the latest information.
That completely defeats the purpose of a health tracker. The entire idea is to monitor your health continuously and alert you when something is wrong. If you have to manually open the app every time just to see whether anything happened, the device is not doing its job.
The battery behavior makes things even worse.
The app might show something like 60–70 percent battery remaining with several days left, so I assume everything is fine and keep wearing it. Then I open the app two days later and discover the ring has been dead the entire time. So not only do you receive no health notifications, you also receive no reliable battery warning. The ring simply stops tracking while the app still claims plenty of battery remains.
To make matters worse, customer support was completely dismissive.
When I contacted them about the missing notifications, their response was essentially:
"It is an Android issue. We cannot do anything about it."
That response is unacceptable.
Android is one of the two major mobile operating systems in the world. If a product does not work properly on Android, the solution is not to blame the user’s phone. The solution is to fix the product or stop selling it for that platform. Selling a health tracking device that does not deliver notifications on Android means selling a device that does not fulfill its core function.
A health tracker should do one thing above all else: track your health and alert you when something important happens. RingConn fails at that basic requirement.
Between the missing notifications, unreliable battery reporting, nonfunctional widgets, and dismissive support, this has been one of the most disappointing tech purchases I have made.
Bottom line: avoid RingConn. There are many alternatives on the market that actually deliver the functionality a health tracker is supposed to provide. Do not waste your money on this one.
