I am writing this to warn other travelers about the dishonest billing practices of Roadsurfer. I rented a vehicle from the Los Angeles and returned it to the San Francisco.

1. On-site Inspection & Confirmation:

At the time of return, a staff member conducted a thorough inspection using a tablet. We specifically pointed out existing marks, and after cross-referencing with the pre-rental records on their system, the staff explicitly confirmed that these were pre-existing damages from before my rental started. I was told that there were no issues and that I was "All set."

2. Unauthorized Charge without Evidence:
Despite this verbal and professional confirmation at the station, Roadsurfer later processed a charge of approximately $850 and is now demanding additional payments exceeding $1,200 for the same pre-existing marks. This was done without any prior consultation, explanation, or detailed repair evidence.

I explicitly asked them to verify the facts with the staff member who conducted my inspection, as he clearly confirmed there were no issues. If there is a dispute, they should have cross-checked with that employee and compared the current state with the pre-rental photos to explain the situation. Instead, they ignored my inquiries and remained silent, only to proceed with the unauthorized charge. Their complete lack of response has left me with no choice but to post this review and warn others.

3. Crucial Advice: Record Everything:
I highly recommend everyone to record or film every conversation and the entire inspection process when dealing with them. You never know when they will stab you in the back after you leave. Their on-site verbal confirmations mean nothing to their billing department, so you must have your own video evidence to protect yourself.
