I was thinking about how a large company can fail its customers — and Rogers is a good example, especially when compared to Amazon.
Amazon is built on a customer-first mindset, where issues are resolved quickly and with minimal friction. Rogers, on the other hand, operates in a near-monopoly environment, where it seems they can afford to overlook customer experience.
In my case, I was sold the wrong product based on misleading information. Once I realized the issue, I did not accept or use the product or service. However, I was still charged because they considered the SIM card package they mailed to me as a “device.” I spent over two hours explaining that a SIM card package, given its size and weight, is clearly not a device.
Even after two months and five separate calls, I was still being charged. Today, someone finally confirmed that the “device” had been returned to their office, yet I was told I still need to pay for a service I have never used.
I was actually planning to order home internet for my new unit with Rogers, as they offer competitive pricing. However, given this experience, I would rather pay more to another provider and avoid the hassle altogether.
Honestly, what a shame.
