Nothing less than 5 stars for the staff at the Royal Free — and a big thank you.The prompt response of the Royal Free to our emergency 999 call saved my life.In the early hours of Thursday, August 14, 2025, around 2:00 AM, I woke with severe chest pains. My wife immediately called 999. Within 5 minutes, a paramedic arrived, and shortly after, an ambulance followed. They quickly confirmed I was having a heart attack. I was rushed to A&E, seen immediately, and taken into surgery, where a blockage in my artery was cleared and a stent inserted.I spent one day in intensive care, three days in the observation ward, and two days in the discharge room. On Wednesday, August 20, I was discharged. That morning, from my window on the tenth floor of the Royal Free, I looked out over London — Primrose Hill, BT Tower, the London Eye, the Shard, and in the far distance, the towers of Crystal Palace. I smiled and felt truly grateful to be alive. To all the staff at the Royal Free — the paramedic, the ambulance crew, the A&E team, the doctors, the nurses on the tenth floor, the cleaners, the dispatch team — thank you.I came to Trustpilot because my wife noticed a sign on the ground floor of the hospital stating that the Royal Free is rated only 1 star. That must be incredibly demoralizing to the staff who give their all, even in a system that may sometimes let them down. The team on the tenth floor reflects the diversity and dedication of the NHS — professionals from UK, Tibet, India, Nigeria, Ghana, the Caribbean, the Philippines, Ireland, Greece, and beyond. It’s a pity they aren't always recognized for the care and compassion they bring to their work. This review is for them. I hope they read it and know how deeply appreciated they are.
