Since then I've been able to run far more efficiently and with significantly less of the usual niggles that come with distance running. For most of my earlier running life I was constantly battling the same injuries or being put out of the game altogether, sometimes for even years on end. Being competitive and determined often meant I would carry on running through these injuries, thinking they would magically disappear and that they were part and parcel of the sport.
