We were celebrating my brother's birthday and were excited to eat at Ruth Chris on Dixon Road, Mississauga for the first time. The food was very good, with some real highlight like the ravioli, Lobster Mac & Cheese and steaks were lovely.However, the service left much to be desired. Our waiter approached our meal like a second-hand car salesman. This surprised me as I expected an easy and gracious approach to service in such a high-end restaurant. He was clearly annoyed when I shared a steak with my husband (which we didn't manage to finish!). The thing that upset our party most was the way our waiter spoke to his junior colleagues, especially the ones that spoke English as a second language. He was rude and impatient with them, all within our earshot. If we could have we would have given the junior staff the tip instead of him. This is the first time ever we have not wanted to tip a waiter but did not want the other staff to suffer so gave in. We would not eat here again.We loved the story of Ruth Chris, a single mom who was known for her magical ability to make everyone feel valued and comfortable. Unfortunate that the recruitment of the wait staff does not seek to reproduce this experiences for diners at this restaurant.
