Sandal BMW are based in Huddersfield and Wakefield. They have the same directors.I took my X5 to the Wakefield branch for a full suspension geometry and wheel alignment. Around midday I received a video from the 'tech' which was a "health check". I did not ask for nor want this as it is just a pressure sales tactic. Anyway the 'tech' told me my tyres were okay (brand new Avons), the brakes were okay (they were all replaced within the last 12 months), there were no leaks (yes I know, I replaced a leaking power steering pipe), and he went to the rear where he said a suspension ball joint had play in it so it would need replacing before doing the geometry and alignment. That sounded okay until you realise the car had just had an MOT, I had inspected the suspension as had an independent engineer.They had listed an invoice for the work to be done. £700 to replace the suspension arms. Then £83 for 3 wiper blades as they were all smearing. The wiper blades are recent Bosch Classics and even now they are not smearing (edit - now 5th March and wipers NOT smearing). Absolute bloody rip off.On collecting the car the service manager was adamant they had a duty of care - which is utter nonsense and is translated as 'we want to rip you off as we are not making enough money - so I told him I had been working on cars for over 50 years, worked in dealerships and had many qualifications. He was unmoved. Unsurprisingly.So I will now contact Trading Standards as I have removed the suspension arm 'that had play in it' only to find it does not. It is perfectly serviceable. We have a total of 3 Minis and 2 BMWs and not one will ever go to Sandal BMW. P.S. to all those reviewers waiting for their refunds, their accounts are overdue. They were due by the 31st December 2020. Sums up their incompetence really.
