Searching for a 6V heater motor for a 1960 Volvo PV 544 I came across Scandcar B.V. of the Netherlands as a supplier for Scandinavian vintage car parts. Chronology of events:• On June 23rd, 2025 I ordered and paid via PayPal for a 'Volvo Heater motor + fan for PV44 PV54 Duet or 445 / 6 volts’• On June 24th I received an additional invoice for the deposit of the ordered heater motor in which is mentioned, that the deposit will be refunded once the old part will be sent to Scandcar B.V. The very same day the deposit was paid into the company account at RABOBANK. A scan of the transfer form was sent to the company with the request to acknowledge the receipt of the document. Nothing happened.• On June 26th I called the service number to inquire the status of my order. I was told by a female employee on the phone that I would be called back. Again, nothing happened.• On June 27th I called again and this time a male employee told me, that the old part has to be sent first, before the exchange part could be send. On the same day the old heater motor was sent with an insured DHL parcel to the company’s address. As an evidence copies of the dispatch order and photographs of the packed heater motor were sent by email to the ordering department. • When I called on June 30th, I was told the old motor had arrived and the exchange part would be delivered by Fedex asap.• As on July 7th the part had not arrived, I called the offices again to inquire about the status of the order. After checking, an employee told me at first the old part has not arrived. By telling him the heater motor was sent by DHL as an insured parcel he checked it up again. He then told me that the part has arrived and had been sent for repairs to an affiliated repair shop.• On July 11th a heater motor was delivered by Fedex. After unpacking I discovered, that it was not my original part. Manual checking showed, that the ventilation cage attached to the motor was running out of true and was wobbling. When running the heater motor on the 6V electricity system the body of the motor had rather unusual vibrations.• An Email complain was sent to Scandcar B.V. on July 14th. 2025• On July 16th I had to claim for the refund of my deposit, to be followed by reminders on July 21st and July 23rd. The deposit was finally credited to my account on July 24th. • On July 30th I send a reminder to my query on the faulty exchange part, followed by a reminder on August 18th. On that very day I got a reply with a partial explanation to my complaint but which did not address the fundamental problem of the faulty part.• On August 27th I sent an email proposal to Scandcar B.V. to return my original part in repaired condition. I would return the faulty part and bear all transport cost.• To the reminders of my proposal on September 2nd and September 7th I never got an answer from Scandcar B.V.Looking through the feedback from other unsatisfied customers I seem to be not the only one with negative experience with this company. Therefore, be watchful when ordering parts from this Scandcar B.V.
Buyer beware - used Scandcar parts identifier using my VIN and received drive shafts that don’t fit my car! £600 out of pocket and Scandcar not interested - not replying to emails or trying to help - left to try and recover my money using the NL legal system - wished I hadn’t gone to an overseas supplier - never again
I bought an ignition switch for a Volvo 240 in March which did not work as the car would turn over but not fire. I bought another switch from Volvo which solved the problem. I tried to return the switch in April following the instructions on their website. Eventually the package was returned to me marked 'GEEN REACTIE' whatever that means. I contacted Skandcar but they basically said it was not their problem. Having wasted over £100 even an apology for supplying a duff part would have been nice.
I have been working with Mark for more than 10 years and that was wonderful experience. We maintain a really good connection and together we delivered a good magento ecommerce website for selling car's parts. And the great stories are being continued to write
