I purchased 4 tickets through SeatGeek for the Florida Gators vs. Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball

I purchased 4 tickets through SeatGeek for the Florida Gators vs. Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball game on March 7, 2026 and spent approximately $1,000 for the seats. Unfortunately, the view from these seats was severely obstructed by a handrail system that blocked the natural sightline to the court.

From a normal seated position, we could not see the players, the baskets, or much of the game action. The only way to follow the game was to constantly move our heads up, down, and side to side to look around the railing. If we sat naturally in the seats, the view of the court was largely blocked.

The central issue is that there was no disclosure at the time of purchase that the seats had an obstructed view. A reasonable consumer spending this amount of money would expect clear disclosure if a physical obstruction significantly affects the viewing experience.

I documented the issue during the game and submitted multiple photographs and a video taken directly from the seated position showing that the handrail system severely obstructed the view of the court.

The customer service experience has also been disappointing. When I contacted SeatGeek, the response I received was that the venue does not classify these seats as “obstructed view,” and therefore SeatGeek considers the matter resolved. In other words, SeatGeek appears to rely entirely on how the venue labels the seats rather than independently evaluating whether the obstruction significantly affects the viewing experience.

I requested escalation to a supervisor and was told that a supervisor would contact me. That call did not occur, and I had to follow up again to request additional review. The issue has now been open for several days with limited substantive response.

The purchasing process on the website itself was straightforward, but the experience after the issue arose has been frustrating. The SeatGeek Buyer Guarantee gives the impression that buyers are protected if something is wrong with their tickets, but in this case the guarantee appears to rely entirely on how the venue labels the seats rather than the actual viewing conditions experienced by the customer.

I am still hopeful that SeatGeek will review the photos and video provided and offer a fair resolution. At a minimum, ticket platforms should ensure that significant obstructions to the viewing experience are clearly disclosed before purchase, especially for higher-value tickets.

Buyer beware: a seat may have a major obstruction even if it is not labeled as such in the listing.
