I've been working as a mystery shopper for about six months. While auditing can be manageable, the experience is often frustrating. I rely on public transport for my audits, and that travel time isn’t compensated. I can spend over 30 minutes traveling between audits only to earn between £4.75 and £6 each. When audits are grouped, it’s acceptable, but many times I travel long distances for just one audit. The website provides little assistance in calculating travel time, requiring individual checks of bus routes, which is time-consuming. If you make any mistakes on an audit, you forfeit all compensation, including any expenses incurred. Since each audit location has different criteria, it’s challenging to ensure everything is done correctly, and mistakes are treated as catastrophic by management. They demand a lot for very little pay, and I find it hard to consider this minimum wage given the time involved, especially for public transport users. The delivery audit system is quite good, but I wish the delivery services would offer vouchers for auditors. Additionally, the company randomly tests your note-taking, which can be frustrating when audits are so brief.
