I've been involved in mystery shopping for around six months. While it has its merits for conducting audits, it can be quite frustrating. I rely on public transportation to get to my audits, and that travel time isn’t compensated. I often spend over 30 minutes traveling from one audit to another, earning only £4.75-£6 each time. When they are clustered together, it's manageable, but I've had numerous instances where I traveled over 30 minutes just for a single audit. The website offers minimal assistance in displaying travel times; I have to check each bus route separately, which consumes a lot of time. If any part of an audit is done incorrectly, there's no compensation, including any expenses incurred while trying to complete the audit. Moreover, each audit location has slightly different requirements, making it quite tedious to ensure everything is done correctly. Whenever I do make a mistake, the managers react as if it's a major issue. They demand a lot for very low pay, and I find it hard to accept their definition of minimum wage, particularly given the time audits take for someone using public transport. On a positive note, the delivery audit system is quite effective; however, I don't understand why they don't ask delivery services to provide vouchers or credits for auditors to use during these audits. Lastly, I'm quite frustrated with how the company randomly evaluates you when you take notes for audits. While it's beneficial as an auditor, it can be extremely irritating to document anything significant for audits that are completed in under a minute.
