It's been a month since I wrote a check, and they deducted funds for another check without my knowledge—an amount of $494.44. They had a month to refund me, but I had to complain first, and they wouldn't clarify where the money went or why it wasn't caught earlier. Perhaps they hoped I wouldn't notice. They offered me $50 for my trouble, which felt like a bribe to stay quiet. I asked for $200 instead. Their tone became a bit aggressive when I refused the offer. Now, I'm escalating this to the financial ombudsman, as they handle investigations for banks and credit unions. Wish me luck. I plan to close most of my accounts as they mature. Be cautious and check your account regularly; you might find something amiss like I did.
