I have been Connect First Credit Union customer since 2013 and it was like a family member. They always call you for any reason or answer the phone right away when calling the branch. Now that it changed the name to Servus Credit Union it’s not the same service, for the past 2 days I have been calling the branch, after 30 minutes waiting and leaving my call back number I haven’t received a call back.
High monthly fees for accounts. Terrible customer service with no responsibility taken when they error. There are too many banks out there that are happy to have customers and don't charge you for it, find one that appreciates you.
I won't take long with this; there are so many negative reviews that it's hard to believe people still engage with them. The investigation team seems ineffective. A month ago, I wrote a check, but there was another check processed after mine, resulting in both amounts being deducted from my account—one of them was for $494.44. They had a month to reimburse me, but I had to file a complaint, and they wouldn't clarify where that money went or why it wasn't caught earlier. Perhaps they hoped I wouldn't notice. They offered me $50 as compensation for my stress, likely to silence me, but I countered with $200. Their tone became a bit aggressive when I declined their offer. Now, I'm escalating this to the financial ombudsman, as they handle investigations for banks and credit unions. Wish me luck! I'll be closing most of my accounts as they mature. Be cautious and check your account regularly; you might find something off, just as I did.
Three days ago, my account was frozen after receiving an e-transfer from my mother for my birthday. The transfer was verified by the sending bank, yet my account remains frozen. They claim it's under investigation but won't provide any details about when it will be resolved. I'm worried about missing mortgage payments and had to send my kids to school with just quarters. I’m running low on food and gas, and it’s -20 in Northern Alberta. This bank still won't unfreeze my account or explain why it’s frozen. Aside from this issue, their online banking is frustrating; it glitches often and they perform maintenance at inconvenient times. I've had to call in to unlock my card countless times this past year—it's embarrassing. I strongly advise against banking here.
I won't take too long. There are so many negative reviews that it makes me question how anyone still deals with this service. The investigation team is ineffective. It's been a month since I wrote a check, and they deducted funds for another check without my knowledge—an amount of $494.44. They had a month to refund me, but I had to complain first, and they wouldn't clarify where the money went or why it wasn't caught earlier. Perhaps they hoped I wouldn't notice. They offered me $50 for my trouble, which felt like a bribe to stay quiet. I asked for $200 instead. Their tone became a bit aggressive when I refused the offer. Now, I'm escalating this to the financial ombudsman, as they handle investigations for banks and credit unions. Wish me luck. I plan to close most of my accounts as they mature. Be cautious and check your account regularly; you might find something amiss like I did.
I previously submitted a review in frustration, but I want to clarify my stance. I've been a member for 51 years and have had numerous mortgages and investments during that time. Most of my past financial advisors have been excellent, providing full transparency and meeting my needs. I won't allow one negative experience with a single advisor to tarnish the many positive experiences I've had with this credit union. I still trust them and appreciate the financial assistance I've received over the years. I regret my earlier one-star review and instead give them 4.5 stars for their long-standing good service.
Every transaction, even minor ones, is held up by this bank. Their customer service has never resolved any of my issues. All they do is state the obvious when I ask for help. I cannot recommend this bank and suggest taking your business elsewhere, as they clearly do not value their customers.
I'm sharing this to urge bank employees to find better opportunities elsewhere. My account was compromised when a large sum was transferred into it without my knowledge. I reported the issue immediately, but my account was frozen for three weeks, causing me to miss several payments. How is it possible for someone to transfer such a large amount into my account without my consent? I question the safety of this financial institution. I recommend looking for alternatives.
This has been the worst experience ever! Make sure to negotiate and fully understand the differential rate penalty if you plan to move your mortgage early; it can be quite costly. They will deflect blame and take no accountability for their poor service. It has cost us significantly, and I’m relieved to no longer deal with this credit union. Their management shifts blame instead of addressing their lack of professionalism. Be cautious; their offers may sound appealing but are deceptive.
