When I insured my car a year ago, I was happy to find such a low price with Sheila's Wheels. I paid the policy amount in full for the year with no issue.

Fast forward a year, it was time to renew my policy, but I wasn't in a position to pay the 12 months in full as I was previously. I struggled to contact a customer service representative initially, as they kept disconnecting from my online chat. When I finally spoke to someone I made my query "I'd like to renew my policy, but to set up as a Direct Debit as opposed to paying in full". I was told by the representative that I was already on a DD, and there was no issues. I pressed the matter that I wasn't, and was finally met with the understanding that I wasn't set up to a DD, and that the only way to change this was to cancel my current policy and apply for a new one.

As this didn't seem to make much sense, I called the phone customer service line and spoke to someone on the phone. I relayed my same question, and was met with the same answer. Okay, no problem. I cancelled my policy and went to apply for a new one whilst on the phone.

I then asked the phone representative, "the quote I had for my renewal, will that be honoured when I reapply?"

"No."

After I reapplied, using the same details as previous, same car, same address, everything. It was going to be £300 extra than my initial renewal quote.

I was a happy customer for a year, delighted with the low price. But when it came to renewing, there was no acknowledgement of previous policies and prices, as I would have to begin a new claim.

I left and found a renewal price identical to the one Sheila's Wheels offered to me in the first place.

Just be wary.
