WARNING: My wife accepted and paid for an item sent C.O.D. to my name and address. She just assumed I had ordered it because we have been ordering a lot online lately. It was junk tennis shoes. I did NOT order. I did have one order in progress with Shopee but per their tracking it had not been shipped yet (after 4 days). Interestingly the price she paid was the actual price of my ordered item. I researched on line and yes this is a scam that is currently being perpetrated. No problem with prepaid items. Use caution.UPDATED: 03/25. I assumed that Shopee would at the very least help me resolve this issue and get me compensated. After all it was their data that was used to send the phony C.O.D. BOTTOM LINE: They said it was not one of their sellers, so they were not responsible. They gave convoluted legal advice to report to police to obtain a subpoena with intent to sue. Whoa !!!-way too much for 350 baht. They sent the "brush off" via NO-REPLY email. An interesting sub note: If their seller is not responsible why did they immediately BAN the seller that I had the pending (never shipped) order with? I now suspect that the original seller had no intention of sending the ordered product, and just sat on it until the bogus C.O.D. was paid for. I will not order from Shopee again, ever. CAVEAT EMPTOR!
