I hired a karaoke machine for a hen do. It was due for delivery on Thursday (for their standard Thursday–Monday hire), but I was told on Wednesday it would be split between Thursday and Friday. Since I was leaving on the Friday, I asked for it to be re-routed to our lodge for the weekend. At 3pm on the Friday, with guests arriving at 5, I was told it wouldn’t be delivered until the Monday collection date. I had no choice but to buy one last-minute, which was stressful, costly, time consuming and meant we lost a day of using the karaoke. The company did refund me and were apologetic, but with such a limited hire window, relying solely on couriers without better safeguards just isn’t good enough.
