I bought a 45L slim pedal bin from Simplehuman last year for our new kitchen. It looks great but was not cheap, so I expected it to hold up well over time.
Unfortunately, the metal lid was left with a noticeable dent after a dining fork was accidentally dropped onto it. The damage is cosmetic, but very noticeable. I was genuinely surprised it happened so easily to be honest. Our previous Simplehuman slim bin, which we owned for over 10 years, never suffered anything like this and felt much more robust.
What has been most disappointing is the lack of repair options. I fully accept that the damage was accidental and my responsibility, and I would have been perfectly happy to pay for a replacement lid. However, Simplehuman informed me that they do not sell replacement lids for this model. As a result, the only option offered was a small discount off buying a whole new bin, but that's not really feasible, especially when the rest of the bin is still in perfect working order.
I own several other Simplehuman products, including soap dispensers, a dish rack, and toilet brushes, but this experience has left me having second thoughts about buying Simplehuman products in future.
