Disappointed with lack of transparency and poor after-sales supportI bought a car from Skoda Winchester and was not informed at the time of purchase that it had previously been used as a private hire vehicle. This has made it incredibly difficult to sell on, as many dealers—especially platforms like Motorway and We Buy Any Car—either won’t take it or reduce the value significantly (in my case, by £5,000).I phoned Skoda Winchester several times to speak to someone about the issue or to see if they’d consider buying the car back, but no one returned my calls. I found this lack of response very disappointing.Eventually, I did sell the car—but at a loss—because I didn’t feel comfortable selling it privately without disclosing its full history, even though that same courtesy wasn’t extended to me when I bought it.I believe strongly that dealerships have a responsibility to be transparent about a car’s history, especially when it has been used for private hire. I expected better from a main dealer and am very disheartened by how this was handled.
