Three years ago our Skoda Fabia clutch went. It was a 2018 registration still under warranty. I didn't want to lose the warranty and got the car to a Skoda garage. I was charged £1,000 - three years ago - to change my clutch which should not have worn down. I was told what a bad driver I was too. Today, July 2024 I collected my car from an independent garage in London. My clutch, the new one from Skoda put in August 2021 had failed after MOT and servicing. After 3 years?!!! Today, July 2024, I went to collect my Skoda after a second new clutch was put in. The independent garagist kept the August 2021 clutch to show me what went wrong from the wear and tear - but not ordinary wear and tear - but from shoddy workmanship, the previous garage work! He explained it was NOT my driving. The previous job was bad, too tight. Far too tight. I had been overcharged at £1,000 for a replacement clutch on a small car. I am writing this to flag it down: even when a car was under warranty, Skoda had faulted me three years ago, gave me a bashful and an earful (bullying tactics?) (August 2021). I was charged me £1,000 to change my Skoda Fabia clutch from a car bought from a Skoda dealer and serviced by Skoda, I did everything by the rules book. Today 4 July 2024, I was shown the evidence by an independent garagiste, that Skoda had fixed my clutch too tight forcing premature wear and tear and the second replacement of my clutch. I am still frightened of victimisation and won't tick the box to tell Skoda. Perhaps consider a second opinion from an independent garagist and don't trust Skoda, because it is Skoda?
