I purchased a B-2 Carbon Trunk in late December. Shipping took much longer than I was told. The header on the website, when I purchased the Trunk, touted 2 day shipping. Customer Service was okay, not great… Actually a bit rude at first. After their failure to deliver as promised, I contacted them and questioned the 2 Day Delivery post on their website. I was told I could cancel my order. Really? That’s how you want to treat your ‘valued’ customers? Cancel? That’s when the excuses began. Multiple emails back and forth blaming Fed Ex for the delays, telling me it’s ready to ship, waiting on pick up, yet no tracking number or confirmation that it was picked up.
The excuses were constant regarding the delay. They offered to include a free wallet as an apology for the delay… Nice gesture, but the Trunk already included a free wallet as a Promo during their Christmas Sale. So, you want to include a ‘free wallet’ that I already had in the order?
When the trunk finally arrived, just over three weeks after it was ordered, it has a visual blemish in the carbon fiber weave that catches the light just enough to make it annoying. Quality Control needs much improvement here, as does manufacturing. The blemished piece could have easily been cut and used for smaller pieces instead of one of the two large panels. Customer Service was of no help with this issue as well… other than telling me ‘return it’. I guess we have established a common theme here. They told me that it would not impair the structural integrity of the Trunk. I understand that, but for the cost of this Carry On, I would expect it to be unblemished. When I mentioned another Brand, I was told they don’t use real Carbon Fiber… That’s not true. I can deal with Customer Service not handling the issues as I would have expected. However, I am completely disappointed in the quality for a supposedly Top Tier Company. Blemished items should not be sent out as First Quality Perfect Products. Yet, this one was.
The Trunk itself is quite nice. It appears to be very well made. Light. Sturdy. Rolls incredibly easy. But, if I were to do it again, I would think twice about Skyborne. I recommend checking reviews on various platforms regarding shipping. This seems to be a constant complaint. Lot’s of them cite shipping delays. They appear to like to place the blame on Fed Ex, as they did with me. Sure one or two times is understandable, but it’s an all too common theme.
One of the primary reasons I wanted to go with Skyborne, was they are assembled in Canada. I was happy to support our neighbors to the North. Another was the quick shipping that would have had it arrive to me prior to an upcoming flight for a business meeting I needed to attend. And of course it didn’t hurt that it is a beautiful looking Trunk.
Still, the entire experience was not what I expected from Skyborne. Sadly, at this point, I find it difficult to recommend the B-2 Carbon Fiber line from them.
