I ordered a KitchenAid mixer set with a stainless steel bowl. After about six months of use, and after washing it once in the dishwasher, the rim of the bowl started bubbling/rusting. Smartech blamed the customer, saying that the bowl should not be washed in the dishwasher, and decided to simply grind down the rim and return it — which also damaged the protective coating of the bowl even further. I contacted KitchenAid directly through their official website to ask whether the stainless steel bowl can be washed in a dishwasher, as stated in the manual, and they confirmed that yes, it can — meaning the bowl was defective. So it seems that Smartech doesn’t want to deal with customer issues and prefers to blame the customer, even though it was clearly a faulty bowl.
