Laurie Ross
Unacceptable Experience

I have visited the venue multiple times without any issues, but this experience was different. Although I’m not a professional skier, I have basic skiing skills like braking and turning. On this occasion, I went alone and bought my lift pass. I ran into friends at the ticket desk who also got their passes separately. We each declared our skiing abilities as required, but I had no responsibility for the declarations of others. Once on the slope, I noticed two friends could ski safely, while the third was a novice. Out of concern for safety, I briefly showed him the snowplough technique at the edge, ensuring we did not block others. However, a staff member asked us to move aside, which we did without protest. During our first run: * The two experienced skiers descended safely. * The novice fell but did not endanger anyone. * I skied slowly and cautiously, focusing on safety. After this initial descent, we were suddenly removed from the slope. The reason given was that the inexperienced skier was a 'danger.' While I understand safety concerns, I contest the following actions. The staff claimed the other three of us 'had not shown turning ability' and thus had to leave. This reasoning is flawed for several reasons: 1. It was our **first run**, and there was no dangerous behaviour. 2. A cautious run doesn’t equate to incompetence. 3. We weren’t given a chance to complete a second run. 4. No assessment was made. I explained my experience and offered to demonstrate my skills, but this was outright refused. I was warned that I would face security if I insisted. This was the most alarming part. I had: * Bought my ticket independently * Declared my abilities honestly * Followed all rules * Not caused any danger * Asked to demonstrate my competence Yet, I was treated like a beginner, denied verification, and threatened. At the front desk, staff seemed surprised by the situation but insisted I needed to rebook or choose a future date immediately. I had specifically set aside time for this visit and couldn’t commit to another date on the spot. No apology has been given. This incident raises concerns about: * Inconsistent rule enforcement * Denial of fair assessment * Misuse of authority * Lack of customer consideration Given that all four of us are Asian, I question whether bias played a role. Alternatively, the staff might have misinterpreted my instruction as unauthorized coaching, yet this was never discussed. Both scenarios are troubling. I am seeking: 1. A written explanation of the staff's decision-making process 2. Clarification of the criteria for removal 3. An apology for how this situation was handled I went to the venue to enjoy skiing responsibly but ended up feeling unfairly treated. I hope this complaint is taken seriously.
