As a Year 11 student who's been doing Sparx for 4 years, all I have to say is WHY. Why would anyone create a learning platform to maximise the suffering of students? To start, homework is completed when someone gets 100% correct. Personally, this worsened my fear of failure and made me want to avoid maths. Mistakes are supposed to help us grow, and Sparx doesn't leave any room for it. Students also have to worry about constant bookwork checks, which distracts them from the maths itself. This website is counterproductive, as maths is about logical reasoning and not perfection.
I can summarise my Sparx experience using 2 words: A WASTE. I've wasted hours watching condensending videos that don't help. I've wasted so much effort doing impossible questions (I'm in higher). I've cried countless times and felt worthless whenever I got something wrong. The questions are WAY too long which increases burnout. Sparx is the 9th circle of hell for students' mental health.
Thanks to Sparx, maths has made me feel incompetent, dread, anxiety... the list goes on. If any school is thinking of using Sparx, DON'T. Save your students from insanity.
