This app is utterly hideous, disgusting torture for children. it successfully increases the amount of time students spend 'looking at words', while completely turning them off from reading. It is a Compliance Tool disguised as a Pedagogical Tool.
My son hates reading now thanks to this nonsense app being introduced at his school.

Boring, Useless and stressful, this website is the burden of my existence, the progression is horrid, the questions are AI and it is horrible for people with bad memory.
As a student who genuinely loves reading, I find the Sparx Reader system incredibly demotivating. The "reward" system forces me to read books I have zero interest in just to unlock the ones I actually want to read. Even with my preferences set, the suggestions rarely align with my actual tastes. Furthermore, the comprehension checks are far too rigid; missing a single question forces you into a repetitive loop that feels more like a memory test than actual reading engagement. Instead of encouraging a love for books, this app makes reading feel like a high-stakes chore.
Absolutely the WORST reading app especially for children. my children now refuse to read because of the misery faced with sparx reader. Punishment for reading to fast or slow is not right and in actual exams like igcse paper you are provided the text the WHOLE time and retrieve answers instead of having to remember intricate details. Im EXTREMELY sorry to anyone faced with this during there education it sucks any morcel of joy our of reading and sets the influence each book is for study instead of joy. I have to complete Sparx reader homework every week and earn 300 points. Out of all the homework I have to complete this is probably my least favourite. I am a huge book lover but the books that reader provides are absolutely trash and boring which makes homework completely miserable. I have also found that when it asks the questions, I get more points getting 3/4 than 4/4 . Why would schools want to waste their students time reading these shit books when you could be reading physical books that you enjoy and are happy to read. 0/5 stars.
It’s absolutely rubbish. I got 3 out of 4 on one of my reading checks but it still won’t let me move on. I literally spent 40 minutes on this and only getting 155 SRP. Platforms like this shouldn’t even exist, it should be banned for eternity
I truly dislike this platform as it takes an eternity to complete my assignments. It's infuriating that I am only suggested four books to read, and often, I have no interest in them. Additionally, if I answer even two questions incorrectly, I have to go through the material again.
My children enjoy reading, but they find this platform unappealing. For avid readers, the limited text options and poorly designed comprehension questions make it tedious, leading to distractions like phones instead of books. For those who dislike reading, it only intensifies their aversion, prompting them to seek shortcuts and solutions, ultimately encouraging phone use over actual reading. It's a disappointing scenario for everyone involved.
