Arrived to a questionnaire asking me the exact same questions as when they rang me the day before my appointment. None of the answers I gave on the phone were updated on my record, so what was the point of ringing me?When I eventually saw the optician after exciting times focusing on the same hot air balloon I've seen many times (boring) and shots being fired at my eyeballs I was told that I had a scratch on my lens (after they took my glasses out of the room to test them?!). Was told my current frames (which I love) would not support the new lenses (even though the optician was talking about varifocal "super" lenses?). Then I was told about how contact lenses may be the answer, despite no question. Then I was made to have a field of vision test and the stinky onion bhaji breath of the previous user was invading my nostrils and gave me a headache from hell. Maybe they should fumigate it in between users, especially in winter. It was truly disgusting. Then I had to go back for another field of vision test and another sniff of the putrid stench that was still lingering. Also, they had a roller blind in place of a door in the water closet sized room I was in!?In a nutshell, lies, upselling and Covid 10,000 is what my experience gave me. It all took 2 hours, which added to the immense fun of trying to find somewhere to sit and watch the staff aimlessly floating about the place. I won't be buying any new glasses to gain a miniscule increase in vision, my current ones are still sufficient for my needs. I think eye tests should happen outside of a sales environment, there is a clear conflict of interest with most high street opticians.P.S. My comfortable head rest was covered in parcel tape, and they didn't even put that on smoothly. Maybe people need to buy more glasses so they can get some slide doors and a box of memory foam. This was the Wakefield branch.
