My organisation switched to Specsavers as their prefered eye test provider. The test went fine, and it was determined that I needed varifocals. Upon picking them up, it was immediately clear that they were not fit for purpose. My vision was significantly blurrier, making them unusable. There was no question my eyes would get used to worse vision with these glasses on! Not satisfactory quality or fit for purpose. Over the course of three separate visits to the Chiswick store, I attempted to have the problem rectified. On each occasion, the staff members I spoke with, while attentive, seemed unable to take the necessary steps to solve the problem, stating that new measurements and lenses would require a manager's authorisation. My fourth visit was specifically scheduled to speak with the manager, who I was informed would be present. Despite knowing the purpose of my visit, the manager deferred my case to an assistant who, in a last-ditch effort, attempted to solve a fundamental optical issue by simply bending the frames. This was both unprofessional and demonstrated a complete failure to understand the core problem. At that point, having lost all confidence in this store's ability to provide a satisfactory solution, I requested a refund. Following this, I was forced to go to another optician where, after another test, but MORE careful, triple-checked measurements, a new pair of varifocals was created that are now entirely fit for purpose. This entire experience has been extremely frustrating. The issue was not with a simple fitting but with the fundamental quality and accuracy of the product provided, which was compounded by the inability and unwillingness of staff and management to find a proper solution.
