I booked a hotel room and selected the refundable rate, paying an additional fee for flexibility. The policy indicated that cancellations made before the stated cutoff time would be refunded minus the protection fee. I canceled well before check-in, within the window described in the terms.
Despite that, my refund was denied. I understand policies can have conditions, but the language presented during booking did not suggest that cancellation approval would be subjective. The lack of a direct customer service line also made it difficult to resolve the issue. I would encourage the company to clarify its refundable terms more transparently so travelers know exactly what to expect.
