Dysfunctional systems + terrible customer service.

I made an online purchase but Sur La Table failed to send an email purchase confirmation for days and, even then, the confirmation was from some outfit called "Demo SiteGenesis." I was unable to speak with Sur La Table's Customer Service (the voice mailbox was full), it took days for Sur La Table to respond to my email and the phone number for Demo SiteGenesis was a general purpose, automated switchboard which listed a number of departments.So, I took steps to cancel my order, both by email to Sur La Table and through my credit card company. The unwanted march arrived today. When I called Sur La Table's Customer Service seeking a waiver of its standard $12.95 fee for mailed returns, the representative actually started arguing with me, saying that the confusion and the problem were my fault.I've previously purchased things from Sur La Table, both from their stores and online. Never again. Not one nickel.Postscript (6/7/23): I spoke with a rational, friendly Sur La Table manager today who reviewed my experience thoroughly and, by making an effort to make things right, caused me to change my position from "never again" to "let's see what happens."
