Saw a vehicle on Autotrader and placed th £99 deposit to hold it. Called to see if they had recieved it and to arrange to go the following day to view it and if it was in good condition would be a definate sale.

Had a call back from the receptionist (Will i believe) confirming time and also informing me of a deep scratch/dent on one of the wings but assured me that if I bought the vehicle that it would be sorted out before collection.

Autotrader had also done the usual vehicle checks with the £99 deposit and had brought up that the last MOT (april 2025) had pointed out an advisory of exhaust gas leakage near the Catalytic Converter so I made a note of that to ask about it.

Upon arrival and viewing the car I mentioned to the sales person about what they had said about the scratch/dent and he said yes it would be sorted. I also asked about the MOT and how much it would come with and he said minimum of 6 months, but when I mentioned about the gas leak he got cagey about it (I also noted that 3 of the 4 tires were barely legal).

I still decided to test drive the car as I was told that all issues would be sorted.

after the test drive I decided that I would go ahead as they said the issues would be done.

without asking the salesperson started going through a finance application to which i told him i wouldn't be needing that as it would be a cash sale.

After this and just before the deal was to be done he did the usual car salesperson thing of disappearing to the managers office for 20 mins then came back saying that because the car was a non franchise vehicle then the scratch/dent would not be done but they could "get it done for cheap but would cost me £200" despite 2 times being told under no uncertain terms that the damage would be dealt with before I took the car (This is the only reason I decided to make the 98 mile round trip and using fuel to go to this dealership).

No mention about the gas leak either.

Needless to say that I didn't go through with the deal as if they lured me there under false pretenses and also lied to me before the etst drive then what else would they lie about?

Should not be allowed and if I could I would be claiming back the fuel costs and invoicing for my time wasted due to their lies.

Avoid this place like the plague.
