I was trying to make a $1,200 purchase on the Lenovo (computer) website. Lenovo uses Synchrony Bank for their "spread the payments over one year with no interest" offer. The requirement to use verify.syf.com in this transaction killed the offer for me. I simply don't trust Synchrony Bank AT ALL My previous experience with them at Amazon was horrible, so I'm not voluntarily getting involved with them again. I think Synchrony's business model relies on sucking people into transactions that are almost guaranteed to fail one way or another, resulting in the Bank assessing usurious interest rates and excessive fees. My STRONG advice is to stay away from Synchrony. Stick with traditional banks and credit card issuers who are relatively transparent and who offer straightforward financial products. If you go with Synchrony there's an extremely high likelihood that you'll get burned and regret your decision later.
