We booked accommodation through Sykes Cottages a year in advance for a group of 13 people, looking forward to spending quality time together and enjoying a relaxing break.
However, just three days before our scheduled departure, we received an email informing us that our booking had been cancelled. The reason given was that the host would not be accepting bookings for the first few months of 2026—something that had clearly not been communicated to us at any point prior, despite our direct contact with both the host and Sykes.
This last-minute cancellation caused significant stress and disruption for a large group who had planned well in advance. The alternative accommodation offered was miles away from our intended destination and not a suitable replacement.
To make matters worse, we are still waiting for our refund to be processed.
Overall, we feel extremely let down, frustrated, and disappointed with how this situation has been handled. Based on this experience, I would not recommend booking through Sykes Cottages.
