I recently bought a DS218+ and I am continuously delighted about the richness and extend of functionality, as well as the reliability/stability of connectivity across different network types (home, work, on mobile, with and without different VPNs, secured, encrypted, 2-factor authenticated, via browser, via apps, etc/). I have no complaints about speed or responsiveness. I found it reasonably easy to set up, much easier than other devices of similar or less complexity, such as a router, let's say. Connecting from various devices, managing connectivity, synchronisation, reporting/monitoring, all works like a treat. And there is a ton of handy, convenient features which I am still exploring.Bottom line is, I have to say this is a really great, neat NAS that goes beyond expectations, very satisfied with it - hence 5 stars. I must admit though that (a) I am an IT worker (b) I didn't need to seek the help of Synology Support - means that these 5 stars only reflect my experience so far, it's not a comprehensive overall rating.I understand that the learning curve of understanding some networking concepts would be too steep if you'd want to make full use of this NAS without some prior knowledge (I definitely woudn't trust one to my mum). And it's a pity to hear how many other reviewers had a bad experience with Synology Support, I guess I have been lucky not to need support.
