I ordered a wall unit from ikea and paid for assembly at that time. I didn't know who they were sending but was informed an assembler would be matched to the task. A date and person were assigned. The task took 7hrs with 2 people. The installation was horrible. Corners weren't squared, shelves were uneven and the brackets to attach to the walls weren't used. This is #1 in the instructions *WARNING serious fatal injuries can occur if these aren't used.
The 5 bracket boxes were left empty, suggesting they were used, but instead were stolen by the Tasker. There were numerous issues with the installation, including a large area of my hardwood floors scratched and unnecessary holes drilled in my wall. I returned unit to Ikea. I emailed TaskRabbit asking for my assembly cost returned and they said it was Ikeas responsiblity. TaskRabbit paid for my wall to be repaired and floor scratches buffed. I asked several times for the assembly money returned. Although they sympathized with my situation, they didn't agree it was their responsibility. It was a TaskRabbit assembler that did a very substandard job which could have been fatal had I put objects in the top cupboards and it fell on a grandchild etc. There could have been a expensive lawsuit instead of providing the $340 assembly fee returned. Unfortunately they don't agree.
