Blueground has unilaterally decided to terminate its contracts with landlords in Portugal.
They sent an email stating they would leave on a given date, in clear violation of Portuguese rental law. They also stated that nothing further would be owed, while trying to force landlords to accept payment amounts and calculation methods that are not compliant with Portuguese tax law.
On top of that, they are paying less than they are contractually obliged to pay, disregarding the security deposit, and imposing different payment calculations that are against the law.
Communication has been extremely poor. There is no phone number to call, and replies to emails are rare or nonexistent.
I contacted them multiple times in an attempt to reach an amicable solution, but received little to no meaningful response.
This situation is also leaving tenants without certainty about whether they will have a place to live.
Based on my experience, I would strongly advise landlords and tenants not to do business with this company.
