Lesson learned - do not outsource Christmas gift buying or you'll end up with worst kind of Secret Santa. Ordered a non-gendered Christmas box in October. Paid £5 to have individual items gift wrapped - they were not, but was swiftly refunded money. Instead of checking the contents, I trusted my other requests had been followed and gift wrapped the big box - huge mistake. I'd specified no food related items, specifically chocolate. The biggest item was a giant pair of 'chocolate box socks' which upset the recipient. Other items included an anxiety inducing 'Stress Paul' - a figure so crippled with worry as to be locked in a permanent foetal position. Seriously, who wants to be confronted with that on Christmas day morning?! Another was a tin of playing cards illustrated with what looked like rotting brussel sprouts. Hardly in the festive spirit. Only two items did not offend/upset - a notebook and a mini reading light. Can only assume whoever packed the non-gendered gift box in October was either: in a mean mood; assumed non-gendered meant grumpy/sarcastic male; in a rush so didn't bother to check requests; low on stock and only had dregs to choose from before Christmas stock arrived. In which case, it would have been better to wait to dispatch it when a better choice was available. Also, we cannot believe that the five items totalled £25 in value, either. Will not be repeating this experience and would never recommend. Most of the box now bagged to be taken to charity shop.
